GENERAL VISIT TERMS
These General Visit Terms apply to all visits, inspections, investigations, repairs, power flushing, and services carried out by The Leak Hunter, unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.
By booking or permitting a visit, you confirm that you accept these terms.
Bookings and Acceptance
A booking is confirmed once you accept our quotation or appointment verbally, online, or in writing.
These terms apply to every attendance, regardless of service type.
Cancellation and Cooling-Off Rights
Where services are booked remotely, you may cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, unless the service has already been completed.
If you request a visit within the 14-day cooling-off period, you acknowledge that your right to cancel may be lost once the service is carried out.
At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule.
Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may be chargeable.
Missed Appointments
If we attend and cannot carry out the service for reasons outside our control, this will be treated as a missed appointment.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- No access
- No response at the agreed time
- Unsafe working conditions
- Failure to clear the working area
- Children, pets, or occupants preventing access
- Smoking or abusive behaviour
A standard charge of 50% of the quoted fee may apply.
Safe Working Area and Conduct
You must provide a safe, clear working area.
Children and pets must be kept away from work areas.
A smoke-free environment is required.
Abusive or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated.
We reserve the right to pause or cancel a visit where safety cannot be maintained.
Access and Unavoidable Damage
Reasonable access must be provided.
Where areas are not cleared, unavoidable disturbance or minor damage may occur.
We cannot accept responsibility for unprotected items.
Parking, Congestion and Road Charges
Suitable parking must be available.
Paid parking, tolls, or congestion charges may be added to the invoice.
Properties within congestion charge zones must be declared at booking.
All vehicles are ULEZ compliant.
Asbestos and Hazardous Materials
We are not licensed to identify, test, or remove asbestos.
If asbestos or suspected hazardous materials are present, we reserve the right to stop work immediately.
All testing, removal, delays, and costs remain the customer’s responsibility.
Right to Stop Work
We may stop or refuse work where safety, access, or conduct issues arise.
Fees may still be payable.
Liability
Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Otherwise, liability is limited to the value of the service provided.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
LEAK DETECTION SERVICE TERMS
Leak detection is an investigative service intended to identify the most likely source of a leak at the time of inspection.
No guarantee is given that every leak can be located.
Leak detection does not include repairs unless separately agreed and quoted.
Intrusive investigation may be recommended where required and will only proceed with authorisation.
Authorisation includes consent for reasonable access damage.
Findings reflect conditions at the time of inspection only.
Reports are provided for information and insurer acceptance is at their discretion.
Leak detection services are subject to the General Visit Terms.
REPAIR AND REMEDIAL WORKS TERMS
Repairs are corrective works carried out to address a confirmed fault.
Repairs proceed only where scope and pricing have been explained and authorised.
Repairs are limited to the agreed fault and do not constitute a system upgrade.
Pricing may be fixed or estimated. Decorative making good is excluded unless agreed.
Where works escalate, additional costs will be advised before proceeding unless required for safety.
Reasonable access damage is considered part of the works.
We are not responsible for the age or condition of existing systems.
Parts supplied by us are new, sourced from recognised merchants, compliant with applicable standards, and subject to a standard markup unless agreed otherwise.
Customer-supplied parts carry no warranty.
Where customer-supplied parts are defective and replacements are sourced by the customer, waiting time or lost time charges may apply.
A return visit to complete the originally quoted works will not be charged separately.
Repairs are subject to the General Visit Terms.
POWER FLUSH SERVICE TERMS
A power flush is a remedial cleaning process intended to remove sludge and debris to improve circulation.
It does not repair faults, replace components, or guarantee system performance.
Power flushing may reveal pre-existing weaknesses.
Repairs following a power flush are not included unless agreed separately.
Power flushing is subject to the General Visit Terms and Warranty Terms.
REPAIR WARRANTY TERMS
All warranties apply only where works have been completed and paid for in full.
Warranty Period means the stated duration, running until midnight at the end of the day following the anniversary of completion.
Repairs are covered by a 12-month workmanship warranty within the Warranty Period.
Parts supplied by us are subject to manufacturer warranties.
Labour cover is provided for removal and refitting of failed parts within the Warranty Period as follows:
- 12 months for pipework, fittings, valves, and non-electrical components
- 6 months for boiler parts and boiler-related components
Outside the Warranty Period, normal labour charges apply.
The warranty does not cover wear and tear, corrosion, sludge, system-wide faults, third-party interference, customer-supplied parts, misuse, or consequential loss.
Nothing limits statutory rights.
POWER FLUSH WARRANTY TERMS
Power flushing is covered by a workmanship warranty only.
Warranty Period means the stated duration, running until midnight at the end of the day following completion.
The warranty covers re-performing the power flush only and does not include parts or repairs.
A magnetic system filter must be installed and functioning correctly for the warranty to apply.
If none is present, installation by us must be accepted for warranty activation.
The warranty does not cover:
- Microbore systems
- Undersized or unsuitable pipework
- Inherent system design limitations
- Boiler or cylinder sludge blockages
- Pre-existing leaks or corrosion
- Component failure unrelated to the flush
Where circulation components are replaced as part of a flush, they fall under the Repair Warranty Terms.
Where a pump is retained against recommendation, no warranty applies to that pump.
Any third-party interference invalidates all warranties.
Power Flush Warranties are not transferable to a new property owner or occupier unless expressly agreed by us in writing in advance.
Nothing limits statutory rights.
